- Part 1

Emma entered her house, threw down her keys and purse on the table that sat in the hallway. She was upset, it had been a shit week. She had been served her divorce papers, broke her favorite shoe and to top things off, today she was laid off.

“Yep, a perfect ending to a perfect week” Em snorted out loud to no one in particular. She felt something furry doing figure eights around her ankles. “Ahhh but you love me, don’t you Robbie? Mommy is going to take her suit off, get in her pajamas and pour herself a glass a wine, maybe two.” The black cat snuggled against her owner and purred as if telling her that things were going to be alright.
Giving the cat one last pat, she set Robbie down and went to her bedroom. She glanced sideways to look out the window. It was a weird night, the moon was full with thin clouds surrounding it, making it look eerie. It reminded her of a scene out of a scary movie but then she didn’t scare easily. It was just an observation.

Once she was changed, she made her way to the kitchen, opened a bottle of wine, grabbed a glass and then made her way to the sofa. Pouring herself a healthy glass, she settled back, propped her laptop up and began surfing career sites where she could send her resume out. Robbie snuggled next to her, content.

“At least we still have each other, right kiddo?” She said to the cat. Robbie looked and meowed softly in agreement then went back to sleep. She gave the cat a lovingly stroke and went back to the task at hand.
She wasn’t sure how much time passed but all of sudden Robbie started hissing and acting all paranoid. “What’s wrong, Kitty?” Her only response was a big hiss and then the cat scampered off to safer waters. Shaking it off, that her cat had mental problems, she focused back to her laptop.

It was then she felt it, you know the feeling…the feeling you are no longer alone. Someone else was there in her house with her. Friend or foe, she couldn’t tell but the hair on the back of her neck stood up. She went to let out a scream but a hand came from the back, preventing her completing that task.
“I wouldn’t do that, if I were you” The voice said.
